How long do your projects take?
Projects vary by scope, complexity and lead times from other projects in front of yours.02
What type of services do you provide?
We provide custom signs for companies with pre-made logos. We also specialize in custom built ins and furniture.03
Do you provide sketches and concept drawings?
We do provide preliminary sketches of signs and furniture upon request. We try to limit revisions as much as possible because it incurs additional cost to the project.04
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes! Once we get a good understanding of the scope of the project we will put a formal quote together and send your way!05
Do you provide free in person consults?
Depending on the complexity of the project we do make free in person consults to clients in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. Unfortunately there is a $75 consult fee for clients on the peninsula, that HRBT Traffic is awful! We do deduct this consult fee if you decide to use us!06
What material do you work with?
At this time we mostly work with wood for furniture products and high density urethane for signs. We can certainly quote furniture with metal legs, we just don't have the capability of fabricating it ourselves.07
When do you collect money? Is there a down deposit?
We collect a deposit up front of 50% to cover material costs incurred. Once complete the rest of the payment is due upon pickup.08
Will our sign or project be featured on your social media platforms?
We try and post as much of the construction process as possible online because it's super interesting! If you do not want your project posted please let us know ahead of time!09
Do you deliver?
We do deliver on a project to project basis. We highly encourage clients to pick up their projects at our shop.

Do you do this full time?
We do this part time in the evenings after our full time gigs! Everyone's patience for their project is super appreciated!

Where is your shop located?
We are located in Virginia Beach close to the amphitheatre.12
What if we want to change something about the project half way through construction?
Changes to projects do happen but unfortunately we need to charge additional material and labor cost after execution of the quote.

Do you sell merch?
We sure do! On limited runs though.

Can I stop in to see the progression of my project?
We prefer clients to not stop in for updates, we can certainly send you photos or facetime if you really want to see it! We try and keep the finished product a surprise for as long as possible.15
Why is your company name Melrose Design Company?
We started our woodworking and design journey in a small garage on campus at ODU. That garage happened to be on a street called Melrose Parkway, 5 houses from the football stadium.
